STEP 2Open ExtensionOpen the Thunderbit Chrome Extension, then go to the ROI Calculator. In the "Calculate ROI" tab, enter your numbers in the input fields: (1) "initial_investment" for the initial investment amount, (2) "net_profit" for the net profit or loss (use a negative number for a loss), and (3) choose "yes" or "no" in "include_interpretation" to control whether the result includes a short positive, negative, or break-even note.

STEP 3Click the Calculate ROI ButtonClick the "Calculate ROI" button to generate the result. Thunderbit will validate that both inputs are numeric, then compute ROI% = (net_profit / initial_investment) * 100 and round it to 2 decimal places. Review the plain-text output (it will always include "ROI: X%" and may include a short interpretation if you selected "yes"), then copy the result to your document, spreadsheet, or notes as needed.

Calculate ROI from two inputs

Enter an initial investment amount and the net profit or loss to compute return on investment as a percentage. The ROI Calculator applies a standard formula and returns a clear ROI% figure you can use to evaluate performance. It is built for founders, finance teams, marketers, and operators who need a quick way to compare projects, campaigns, or purchases without building spreadsheets.

Validate inputs and handle edge cases

The tool checks that both values are numeric and prevents misleading results by flagging cases where the initial investment is zero. It also supports negative net profit to reflect losses, so you can assess downside outcomes as well as wins. This helps analysts and project owners avoid calculation errors and keep ROI reporting consistent across different initiatives.
